Davenport Man Sentenced for Conspiracy to Distribute Drugs

DAVENPORT, IA – On March 1, 2012, Jason Wayland Blunt, age 36, of Davenport, Iowa, was sentenced by Chief Judge James E. Gritzner of the United States District Court to 105 months imprisonment for conspiracy to distribute drugs, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. Chief Judge Gritzner also sentenced Blunt to serve five years supervised release following imprisonment and pay $100 to the Crime Victims Fund. Blunt previously pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute at least 1,000 kilograms of marijuana and an unspecified quantity of cocaine.

In August 2010, having learned of Blunt’s involvement in the sale and distribution of cocaine and marijuana, Davenport, Iowa, police conducted a controlled buy of marijuana from Blunt. Following this purchase, police executed a search warrant at Blunt’s residence, recovering additional marijuana, cash, and drug paraphernalia. Investigation revealed that since 2007, Blunt distributed at least two kilograms of cocaine and 1,800 kilograms of marijuana in the Davenport, Iowa area.

This case was investigated by the Davenport, Iowa, Police Department and was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
