Missouri Man Sentenced on Federal Child Pornography Charges
DAVENPORT, IA- On May 18, 2012, Jay Eugene Dietz, 23, of St. Joseph, Missouri, was sentenced to 150 months of imprisonment for one count of receiving and distributing child pornography, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. Chief United States District Judge James E. Gritzner also ordered Dietz to serve a term of supervised release of 5 years following his incarceration and pay an assessment of $100 to Crime Victims Fund.
The case began during an online undercover peer-to-peer investigation. Law enforcement identified an internet protocol (IP) address associated with the file-sharing of child pornography. Subsequent investigation showed that this IP address corresponded to the residence of Dietz’s parents in Davenport, Iowa, where Dietz recently had resided. A search warrant executed at Dietz’s residence resulted in the seizure of a computer containing child pornography. A followup search of Dietz’s residence resulted in the discovery of additional child pornography.
This investigation was conducted by the Davenport, Iowa, Police Department, the United States Secret Service, and the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Iowa.
