
California Man Sentenced After Federal Drug-Conspiracy Conviction
DAVENPORT, IA - On September 14, 2012, Gerhard Jacobus Hanneman, age 68, from Fort Bragg, California was sentenced to 120 months imprisonment by United States District Court Judge John A. Jarvey, after pleading guilty to conspiracy to manufacture and distribute marijuana, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. Hanneman was also ordered to be placed on four years of supervised release and pay $100 towards the Crime Victims Fund. On August 9, 2012, co-defendant Joseph Haynes was sentenced to 78 months imprisonment. A remaining defendant, Andrew Gallagher has pled guilty and is awaiting sentencing.
From February 2011 to December 2011, Hanneman grew marijuana in California. Hanneman’s marijuana grow operation took place inside buildings or on outside property controlled by him. Hanneman then processed and drove this marijuana from California to Iowa for redistribution by co-defendants Gallagher and Haynes. During the course of this conspiracy, Hanneman manufactured and distributed in excess of 100 kilograms of marijuana.
This case was investigated by the Iowa Department of Public Safety, Division of Narcotics Enforcement, the Coralville, Iowa, Police Department, the Fairfield, Iowa, Police Department, the Iowa City, Iowa, Police Department, the Johnson County, Iowa, Sheriff’s Office, the Ottumwa, Iowa, Police Department, the University of Iowa Police Department, and the Washington County, Iowa, Sheriff’s Office. This case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
