Mexican Man Sentenced For Unlawful Entry After Deportation

DAVENPORT, IA- On February 21, 2012, Juan Maldonado Hernandez, age 24, from Mexico, was sentenced to 5 months imprisonment by United States District Court Judge Robert W. Pratt, after pleading guilty to unlawful re-entry after prior deportation, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. Hernandez was also ordered to be placed on one year of supervised release and pay $100 towards the Crime Victims Fund. On August 8, 2011, Hernandez was found in the United States after being arrested in Muscatine, Iowa, for a violation of a protective order. Hernandez had been previously deported in 2009 and in 2011. The removal in 2011 was after a state conviction for domestic abuse assault.

The investigation was conducted by the United States Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations, the Muscatine, Iowa, Sheriff’s Office, and the Muscatine, Iowa, Police Department. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
