Colorado Man Sentenced on Federal Drug Charges

DAVENPORT, IA - On May 18, 2012, Daniel Rene Pastrana, age 25, of Denver, Colorado, was sentenced to 51 months imprisonment for one count of conspiracy to manufacture, distribute, and possess with intent to distribute at least 50 kilograms of marijuana, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. United States Chief District Judge James Gritzner also ordered that Cochran serve a term of 3 years supervised release following his incarceration, and pay $100 to the Crime Victims Fund.

During his guilty plea, Pastrana admitted that starting as early as 2002, and continuing until 2011, he and others were involved in a conspiracy to obtain, package and distribute marijuana. Pastrana admitted that he and others traveled from Colorado to Davenport, Iowa with 50 kilograms of marijuana and drug money. Pastrana also acknowledged that he was to watch over the marijuana and drug money to make sure it was secure during the trip to Davenport, Iowa.

This investigation was conducted by the Clinton, Iowa, Police Department, Quad City Metropolitan Enforcement Group, the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
