
Davenport Men Sentenced to Prison for Cocaine Base and Gun Offenses
DAVENPORT, IA – On November 29, 2012, Joshua William Rankin, age 23, and Devon Blu Raven Braet, age 22, both of Davenport, Iowa, were sentenced for conspiring to distribute cocaine base, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. Rankin was also sentenced for possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. United States District Judge Stephanie M. Rose sentenced Rankin to 15 years in prison to be followed by five years of supervised release, and sentenced Braet to 103 months in prison to be followed by four years of supervised release.
Rankin and Braet agreed to distribute cocaine base in the Davenport area from August 2010 through October 4, 2011. Rankin and Braet traveled to Chicago on multiple occasions to pick up cocaine base and brought it back to Davenport.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Davenport, Iowa, Police Department, and was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
