Clinton Man Sentenced for Drug Trafficking and Carrying Firearms

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 30, 2012

DAVENPORT, IA - On November 30, 2012, Kendall D. Robinson, age 37, of Clinton, Iowa, was sentenced to 360 months imprisonment, having been convicted of multiple drug and gun offenses, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. United States District Court Judge John A. Jarvey ordered Robinson to serve 300 months for drug trafficking charges and a consecutive 60 months for possessing a firearm. Robinson must also serve ten years supervised release and pay $400 towards the Crime Victim Fund. No fine was imposed.

In August of 2011, Robinson was indicted for conspiracy to distribute more than 280 grams of cocaine base (“crack”) between 2008 and August 12, 2011, possession of a firearm in furtherance of the conspiracy, and being a felon in possession of firearms. A trial was held in July of 2012, after which Robinson was found guilty on all charges. The conspiracy involved several individuals who distributed crack together in Clinton for nearly three years. At least two firearms were linked directly to Robinson. Judge Jarvey, noting Robinson’s history of violence and drug offenses, found the need to protect the public from Robinson an important factor in imposing the thirty year sentence.

This case was investigated by the Clinton, Iowa, Police Department, the Iowa Division of Narcotic Enforcement, and the U.S. Marshal Service, and the case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
