Davenport Men Sentenced for Conspiracy to Distribute Drugs
DAVENPORT, IA – On April 6, 2012, David Martinez, age 32, and Ramiro Rosas, age 28, both of Davenport, Iowa, were sentenced by United States District Judge John A. Jarvey for conspiracy to distribute cocaine and marijuana announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. Judge Jarvey sentenced Martinez to 70 months imprisonment and Rosas to 52 months imprisonment. Judge Jarvey also sentenced Martinez to serve four years on supervised release and Rosas to two years of supervised release following imprisonment and to each pay $100 to the Crime Victims Fund. They previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute cocaine.
In May of 2010, police conducted a controlled buy of cocaine from an associate of Martinez. Police then learned that Martinez was receiving ½ kilogram quantities of cocaine and executed a search warrant at his residence seizing cash, digital scales, and drug packaging. Also during this time, police were investigating a significant drug trafficking organization responsible for packaging, storing, and distributing cocaine and marijuana out of the Penny Juice Company, a business located in Davenport, Iowa. Police determined that Rosas was responsible for delivering large quantities of cocaine and marijuana to the Penny Juice Company. These drugs were later re-packaged and distributed to other customers.
This case was investigated by the Davenport Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration, and was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
