
Boise Man Charged for Spray Painting Federal Building
BOISE – Charles Arthur Stark, 42, appeared today in United States Magistrate Court on charges of willful injury to government property, a Class A Misdemeanor, U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson announced. Stark is from Washington state but has been living in a homeless shelter in Boise for several months. Trial has been set for March 5, 2012, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Candy W. Dale.
According to the information filed this morning and the proceedings conducted in open court, Stark allegedly spray painted the East, North, West and South windows of the James A. McClure Federal Building and Courthouse on January 2, 2012, causing approximately $750 in damages to the General Services Administration, the agency that maintains the Federal Building and Courthouse. The words “FU 1867 I'm not a terrorist” were spray painted on the West, North, and East windows and “FU 1867 NDAA I'm not a terrorist” on the south windows. Stark's actions were captured by a videographer and posted on a You Tube internet video.
Stark faces maximum penalties of up to one year in prison, a fine up to $100,000, and restitution to the U.S. Government for the damages.
The case is being investigated by the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Protective Service.
