Ordered to Pay Restitution of $15,806

COEUR D’ALENE – Douglas R. Bisbee, 34, of Lapwai, Idaho, was sentenced yesterday to five months in prison for theft of U.S. Government property and making a false statement, U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson announced. U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge also ordered Bisbee to serve three years of supervised release following his prison term and pay $15,806.43 in restitution.

According to court documents, Bisbee was charged in two separate federal indictments. In the first case, Bisbee was charged with theft for misusing a GSA gas card that was assigned to his work vehicle, by filling up his personal vehicle and others belonging to family members and friends. Following a five day trial, Bisbee was found guilty on November 21, 2011. In the second case, Bisbee was charged with two counts of grand theft and making a false statement. According to court documents, Bisbee pawned two firearms belonging to his employer and failed to redeem the pawn; the firearms were subsequently sold to a third party. When later interviewed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Bisbee knowingly made a false statement, for which he pleaded guilty to on April 25, 2012.

The cases were investigated by General Services Administration Office of Inspector General and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
