POCATELLO – Maurice Edmo, 27, of Fort Hall, Idaho, entered a not guilty plea today to the charge of sexual abuse of a child, U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson announced. Edmo was indicted by a federal grand jury in Pocatello on June 26.

The indictment alleges that Edmo had sexual relations with a 14-year-old girl on the Fort Hall Shoshone-Bannock Indian Reservation in April and May of this year.

The charge of sexual abuse of a minor is punishable by up to15 years in prison, a maximum fine of $250,000, and a minimum five years up to lifetime supervised release.

A jury trial is set for September 25, 2012, before U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge at the federal courthouse in Pocatello.

The case was investigated by the Fort Hall Police Department.

An indictment is a means of charging a person with criminal activity. It is not evidence. The person is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
