BOISE – U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson announced today that Lilliana Ruiz-Dominguez, a/k/a Araceli Ramos, 54, a native of Mexico and former resident of Caldwell, Idaho, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge to 24 months in prison for aggravated identity theft, U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson announced. The Department of Homeland Security will remove Ruiz-Dominguez from the United States following her release from prison. She pleaded guilty to the charge on August 7.

According to the plea agreement, on February 17, 2010, Ruiz-Dominguez applied for a United States passport in Caldwell, Idaho, using the name, social security number and date of birth of a United States citizen in an attempt to obtain a U.S. passport.

“The U.S. Attorney’s Office and its law enforcement partners are committed to investigating and prosecuting those individuals who steal identities from innocent victims,” said Olson. “I commend the cooperative efforts of the State Department and ICE-ERO for their thorough investigation.”

The case was investigated by the U.S. Department of State, Diplomatic Security Service, with assistance from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO).
