Springfield, Ill. - An East St. Louis, Illinois woman who pled guilty to embezzling from a Montgomery county rehab facility was sentenced today to serve five months in jail followed by five months home confinement, as announced by U.S. Attorney Rodger A. Heaton, Central District of Illinois. Janese E. Jordan, 42, was ordered to report to prison on January 22, 2009, and to pay restitution in the amount of $56,109 to the Continuing Recovery Center in Irving, Illinois. Jordan was also ordered to serve three years supervised release upon completion of her prison sentence.

On July 21, 2008, Jordan pled guilty to using her position as Executive Director of the Continuing Recovery Center to embezzle more than $50,000 from December 2004 to December 2005. The center is a not-for-profit residential facility for those recovering from alcohol and substance abuse or addiction. Jordan admitted she forged names on checks using names of the center’s board of directors, submitted false receipts for reimbursement, and directed money to friends or family members or for her personal use.

The charges were the result of an investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick D. Hansen.
