Urbana, Ill. – An Urbana, Illinois man has been sentenced to serve the rest of his life in federal prison. Chief U.S. District Judge Michael P. McCuskey sentenced Terrion Herman, 35, yesterday to the mandatory minimum life sentence. A jury convicted Herman, who has four prior felony drug convictions, in June 2011, for a single count of possession of 50 grams or more of crack cocaine with intent to distribute.

The Urbana Police Department conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eugene L. Miller prosecuted the case.

According to court documents and evidence presented by the government during court proceedings, officers with the Urbana Police Department executed a search warrant of Herman’s apartment, at 1200 S. Vine St., Urbana, on Feb. 3, 2010. At that time, Herman was on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections and had four prior felony drug convictions. Herman was arrested after officers recovered 93.8 grams of crack cocaine hidden inside the back of a clock in Herman’s residence. Officers also recovered a digital scale and plastic bags.
