REPEAT OFFENDER SENTENCED TO 21 YEARS, 10 MONTHS

TOPEKA, KAN. – A Manhattan, Kan., man with five felony convictions in 16 years has been sentenced to 21 years and 10 months in federal prison, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said today.

In August, Risheen Daniel Robinson, 32, Manhattan, Kan., was found guilty following a jury trial in U.S. District Court in Topeka on one count of distributing crack cocaine. On Friday, U.S. District Court Judge Richard D. Rogers ruled that Robinson qualified for sentencing as a career offender.

Robinson served 64 months in state custody for aggravated robbery and was paroled July 24, 2000. While still on parole, he committed a state drug offense. He then committed two subsequent felony drug offenses resulting in a sentence 68 months. After he was released, a fourth felony drug offense sent him to jail for 34 months. Robinson was still on release from that conviction when he committed the crime for which he was sentenced today.

“The defendant’s criminal history demonstrates nothing but a complete and utter lack of respect for the law,” Grissom said.
Grissom commended the Riley County Police Department and Assistant U.S. Attorney Jared Maag for their work on the case.
