WICHITA, KAN. – Francis A. Mlaga, 21, Wichita, Kan., has been sentenced to 60 months in federal prison for arson, U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch said today.

Mlaga pleaded guilty to one count of arson. In his plea, he admitted that on Aug. 24, 2009, he set fire to Ashbury Court apartments at 1940 S. Woodlawn in Wichita, where he lived. The fire caused approximately $297,450 damage to the building, which is owned by Macco, LLC, of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Ashbury Court, LLC, of California.

Welch commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Assistant U.S. Attorney Matt Treaster for their work on the case.
