WICHITA MAN SENTENCED FOR ARSON IN PRATT

WICHITA, KAN. – Mario William Petardi, 28, Wichita, Kan., has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for arson, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said today.

Petardi pleaded guilty to one count of arson. In his plea, he admitted that on Aug. 18, 2009, he started a fire in the northwest bedroom of an apartment in a building at 416 South Ninnescah in Pratt, Kan.

U.S. District Judge J. Thomas Marten ordered Petardi to pay about $12,600 in restitution for the damage caused by the fire. Grissom commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for its work on the case.
