Wichita Man Charged with Robbing Credit Union
WICHITA, KAN. – Christopher Paul Ingo, 58, Wichita, is charged with robbing a Wichita credit union, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said today.
Ingo was charged in a criminal complaint filed Friday in U.S. District Court in Wichita with one count of bank robbery. The complaint alleges that on March 30, 2011, Ingo walked into the Equishare Credit Union at 405 E. Central in Wichita and told the teller, “This is a robbery. Give me all your tens and twenties in a bag. No dye pack.” Ingo left the credit union carrying a 9 x 12 envelope with cash and a dye pack.
The teller reported the robbery and described the robber as six feet tall, wearing a stocking cap and dirty, light-colored coat. The clerk said the robber had a disheveled appearance and might be homeless.
A Sedgwick County Warrant Officer and a Wichita Police Department officer spotted a man fitting the description on foot at 2nd Street and St. Francis. The officers noticed the man’s coat was stained from the dye pack.
If convicted, Ingo faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Wichita Police Department investigated.
