TOPEKA, KAN. – A Kansas City man who sold methamphetamine to undercover officers at a service center on I-70 and elsewhere has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said today. Martinez also was ordered to forfeit $8,400 and two vehicles used in commission of the crimes.

Andres Martinez, 20, Kansas City, Mo., pleaded guilty to four counts of traveling in interstate commerce in furtherance of drug trafficking and three counts of distributing methamphetamine. In his plea, he admitted that:

– On May 27, 2010, he sold $2,400 worth of methamphetamine to an undercover agent at the Lawrence Service Center on I-70.
– On June 14, 2010, he sold $2,400 worth of methamphetamine to an undercover agent at the Lawrence Service Center on I-70.
– On July 14, 2010, he sold $3,600 worth of methamphetamine to an undercover agent at a gas station at 27th Street and California in Topeka, Kan.
– On Aug. 5, 2010, he collected $1,200 at a Burger King at 28th and California in Topeka to pay him for methamphetamine he sold to an undercover agent.

Grissom commended the Drug Enforcement Administration and Assistant U.S. Attorney Greg Hough for their work on the case.
