WICHITA, KAN. – Quinton C. Thomas, 25, Wichita, Kan., has pleaded guilty to robbing the Carson Bank in Wichita, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said today.

In his plea, Thomas admitted that on Nov. 30, 2010, he and an unidentified man robbed the Carson Bank at 4641 E. Douglas in Wichita. They entered the bank about 1:30 p.m. The unidentified man, who had his face covered, was brandishing a handgun. The unidentified man threatened the tellers with a handgun and demanded access to the bank vault.

Thomas ordered a bank employee to the ground and demanded money. Thomas opened a teller drawer and removed cash, placing it in the pocket of his sweatshirt. The two men fled the bank in a light-colored sedan.

A Kansas Department of Corrections officer viewed video surveillance recordings of the robbery and identified Thomas.

Thomas is set for sentencing July 13. He faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000. The Wichita Police Department and the FBI investigated. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron Smith is prosecuting.
