WICHITA, KAN. – Two citizens of Mexico are facing 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to trafficking in methamphetamine in Wichita, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said today.

Aureliano Ramos-Garcia, 48, a citizen of Mexico, pleaded guilty Monday to one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and one count of conspiract to distribute methamphetamine. In his plea, Ramos-Garcia admitted he was arrested April 1, 2011, after investigators seized more than 2 pounds of methamphetamine from co-defendant Jorge Gonzalez-Ulloa, 33, a citizen of Mexico. In June, Gonzalez-Ulloa pleaded guilty to the same counts.

In April, the two men were charged in a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Wichita. The complaint stated that on April 1 the men were under surveillance by the Wichita Police Department, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office and Immigration and Customs. Agents followed Ramos-Garcia when he left his residence at 1650 S. Lulu in Wichita and drove to the area of Indianapolis and Rock Road where he met Gonzalez-Ulloa. The two men appeared to fix something on a gray Mazda truck Gonzalez-Ulloa was driving. When Gonzalez-Ulloa was stopped later in the 2100 block of North Broadway, investigators found more than two pounds of methamphetamine in a yellow plastic sack in the front passenger seat. When agents served a search warrant at 1650 S. Lulu they found approximately a pound of methamphetamine hidden in the garage.

Ramos-Garcia is set for sentencing Oct. 17. Gonzalez-Ulloa is set for Sept. 12. Both parties have agreed to a sentence of 120 months.
Grissom commended the Wichita Police Department, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Assistant U.S. Attorney Barry Disney for their work on the case.
