Great Bend Man Charged with Producing Child Porn

WICHITA, KAN. – A Great Bend man appeared in federal court in Wichita today on charges of producing child pornography, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said.

Shawn Marshal Christiansen, 36, Great Bend, Kan., is charged with one count of producing child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography. The crimes are alleged to have occurred from April 27, 2009, to Jan. 8, 2010, in Great Bend, Kan.

The indictment alleges Christiansen used a Web camera to produce child pornography depicting the genitals of a seven-year-old child and distributed the image via live streaming video.

If convicted, he faces a penalty of not less than 15 years and not more than 30 years without parole in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000 on the charge of producing child pornography, and a maximum penalty of 10 years and a fine up to $250,000 on the possession charge. Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason Hart is prosecuting.
