Federal Charges Filed in Reno County Bank Robbery
WICHITA, KAN. – Jacob W. Schrock, 27, Lyons, Kan., has been charged with robbing a bank in Arlington, Kan., U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said today.
Schrock was charged in a criminal complaint filed today in U.S. District Court in Wichita. An agent’s affidavit alleges Schrock walked into the Citizen’s Community Bank of Arlington, Kan., about 10:46 a.m. Tuesday. He carried a sawed off shotgun and wore a cowboy hat, sunglasses, vest and a blue bandana covering his face.
At 11:08 a.m., a Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper pulled Schrock over in a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup on Salem Road near Highway 50 in Reno County. The trooper arrested Schrock after seeing a sawed off shotgun and bag of money in the truck.
If convicted, Schrock faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000. The Kansas Highway Patrol, the Reno County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch is prosecuting.
In all cases, defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The indictments merely contain allegations of criminal conduct.
