
Driver In 100 MPH Police Chase
Gets 2+ Years in Federal Prison
WICHITA, KAN. – A Topeka woman who led police on a 100 MPH chase after an armed robbery has been sentenced to 29 months in federal prison, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said today.
Brittany R. Holt, 23, Topeka, Kan., pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting armed robbery. In her plea, she admitted that on Jan. 28, 2012, she drove co-defendant David B. Johnson to the Subway Sandwich Shop at 343 S. Greenwich Road in Wichita. Johnson went inside, brandished a replica of a handgun and demanded money. They fled the store in a blue Chevrolet Impala that Holt was driving.
A Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted the car at a Quick Trip at Harry and Webb. When he turned on his emergency lights, Holt drive away rapidly. The chase lasted approximately 31 minutes and reached speeds up to 100 MPH, with the Wichita Police Department and the Kansas Highway Patrol joining the pursuit. Holt and Johnson were stopped in Butler County and taken into custody. In the car, officers found a 12 gauge shotgun and a box of shells, as well as money from the robbery.
Johnson was sentenced in June to 168 months in prison after pleading guilty to five counts of armed robbery and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm after a felony conviction. He also admitted committing similar robberies in Topeka and Lawrence.
Grissom commended the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department, the Wichita Police Department, the Kansas Highway Patrol for their work on the case.
