Wichita Man Pleads Guilty to Bank Robbery

WICHITA, KAN. – A Wichita man has pleaded guilty to bank robbery, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said today.

Willie J. Jackson, 28, Wichita, Kan., pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm after a felony conviction. In his plea, he admitted that on Aug. 11, 2011, he robbed the Sunflower Bank at 2073 North Webb.

In a separate incident, Jackson admitted that on June 9, 2011, he unlawfully possessed a firearm. At the time he was prohibited by federal law from possessing a firearm because of a prior felony conviction for attempted second degree murder. In another separate incident, Jackson admitted that on May 12, 2011, he unlawfully possessed a firearm that he kept at a residence in Salina, Kan.

Sentencing is set for May 31. Both parties have agreed to recommend a sentence between 77 months and 96 months in federal prison.

Co-defendants include:
Marcus D. Bishop, who is scheduled for a change of plea hearing March 15.
Sergio R. Little, who is scheduled for a change of plea hearing March 20.
Tanina Renee Anderson, who is scheduled for sentencing April 23.

Grissom commended the FBI and Assistant U.S. Attorney Alan Metzger for their work on the case.
