Jefferson County, Kentucky Man Sentenced To 97 Months For Possessing Child Pornography

LOUISVILLE, KY – A Jefferson County Kentucky man has been sentenced to eight years and one month in federal prison followed by ten years of supervised release by U.S. District Judge Jennifer B. Coffman after pleading guilty to knowingly possessing child pornography announced David J. Hale, United States Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky.

David S. Blackburn, age 49, entered a guilty plea to the single count federal grand jury indictment on August 15, 2011. According to court records, on March 21, 2011 a Louisville Metro Police Detective with the Crimes Against Children Unit utilized computer software to download several child pornography files including pictures and videos from a file sharing account belonging to Blackburn. During the execution of the search warrant, on May 17, 2011, at Blackburn’s home, police seized a computer tower, two external hard drives containing numerous files of child pornography and 137 cd’s containing videos of prepubescent children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Blackburn is in the custody of the United States Marshals Service.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney A. Spencer McKiness and was investigated by the Louisville Metro Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorney’s Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.
