Graves County, Kentucky Man Sentenced To Seven Years In Prison For Receipt Of Child Pornography

PADUCAH, KY – A Graves County, Kentucky man has been sentenced in United States District Court by Senior Judge Thomas B. Russell to seven years in prison, followed by 15 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to a charge of receipt of child pornography announced David J. Hale, United States Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky.

David Hummel, age 58, was initially indicted by a grand jury in Paducah, Kentucky on April 20, 2011 on charges of knowingly possessing and distributing child pornography. The Superseding Indictment, announced on August 18, 2011, included additional charges for receipt of child pornography and presentation of child pornography, and kept the already charged possession of child pornography. The distribution count was omitted from the 3 count Superseding Indictment.

According to the Superseding Indictment, on February 20, 2007 Hummel knowingly received child pornography. Included in the Superseding Indictment was a notice of forfeiture for a laptop computer, 12 zip drive disks, 12 CD/DVD Rom disks, and 28 floppy disks.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney A. Spencer McKiness and was investigated by the Kentucky State Police.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.
