FEDERAL GRAND JURY INDICTMENT ON FEDERAL FIREARM CHARGE
NOLAN ALEXIS, age 28, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, was charged in a one-count indictment by a Federal Grand Jury for illegally possessing a firearm announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to the indictment, on August 11, 2009, ALEXIS had in his possession a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver. It is further alleged that ALEXIS has a prior felony conviction in October 2008 in Orleans Parish for Possession of Crack Cocaine. If convicted, ALEXIS faces a maximum term of ten (10) years imprisonment, a fine of $250,000.00, three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment and a $100 special assessment.
U. S. Attorney Letten reiterated that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of each defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
The case was investigated by the New Orleans Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Rick Veters.
