HOUMA MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO DISTRIBUTION OF CRACK COCAINE

HENRY VERGIN, 30, a resident of Houma, pled guilty yesterday before U.S. District Judge Kurt D. Engelhardt to one count of distribution of five grams or more of cocaine base and one count of distribution of fifty grams or more of cocaine base, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to the factual basis, VERGIN admitted that on March 20, 2009, he distributed five grams or more of crack cocaine; and on March 26, 2009 he distributed fifth grams or more of crack cocaine.

The defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment. He is scheduled to be sentenced on May 19, 2010.

The investigation is being conducted by Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Andre’ Jones.
