
COVINGTON MAN INDICTED AND ARRESTED ON CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGES
JAMES A. WALKER, JR., 69, of Covington, Louisiana, was indicted today by a federal grand jury in New Orleans for knowingly receiving and possessing digital images, computer images, and digital video files depicting the sexual exploitation of minors, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to today’s indictment, beginning prior to May 14, 2009, WALKER used his computer to acquire child pornography and store images of child pornography. Pursuant to the indictment, WALKER was arrested by Special Agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and is in federal custody. If convicted, WALKER faces a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of five (5) years and a maximum penalty of twenty (20) years, followed by up to a life term of supervised release, a $250,000 fine and can be required to register as a sex offender.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
