DAVID PATRICK MCGUIRE, age 62, a resident of Gretna, Louisiana, was charged in a three count indictment by a Federal Grand Jury for threats to injure to injure an individual and to destroy a building, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to court documents, DAVID PATRICK MCGUIRE worked for Shell Exploration & Production Company until he retired in 2009. After that, he began to make harassing phone calls starting in February of 2010 to his former Shell supervisor at his work address located on Poydras Street. On approximately May 3, 2010, DAVID PATRICK MCGUIRE used a telephone again and specifically threatened to injure his former supervisor by fire, he threatened to destroy his former supervisor's home by fire and he also threatened to destroy the Shell offices.

Each count carries a maximum term of imprisonment of ten (10) years imprisonment, a fine of $250,000.00, three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment, and $100.00 special assessment.

U. S. Attorney Letten reiterated that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Edward J. Rivera.
