COVINGTON MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO THEFT OF MAIL
ANTHONY HOLCOMBE, age 28, of Covington, Louisiana, pled guilty in federal court yesterday before U. S. District Judge Jay C. Zainey to theft of mail, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to court documents, HOLCOMBE, a highway contract route driver, was an employee of Pelican Mail Transport, a company contracted by the U.S. Postal Service to transport mail matter. HOLCOMBE stole a mail parcel from his highway contract truck.
HOLCOMBE faces a maximum term of imprisonment of five (5) years, a fine of $250,000.00 and three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment. Sentencing is set for November 16, 2010.
The case was investigated by the United States Postal Service - Office of Inspector General, and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Loan “Mimi” Nguyen.
