JEFFERSON MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO DISTRIBUTION OF CRACK

GEORGE J. REED, JR, age 44, a resident of Jefferson, pled guilty yesterday in federal court before U. S. District Judge Jay Zainey to a three count indictment for distribution of crack cocaine, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to factual basis, REED admitted that he distributed approximately 99 grams of crack cocaine between March 5, 2010 and March 30, 2010 in Jefferson and New Orleans, Louisiana.

REED faces a maximum sentence of forty (40) years imprisonment, a $2 million fine and four (4) years of supervised release . Sentencing has been scheduled for December 14, 2010.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Agency and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney W. Scott Laragy.
