ANTHONY HOLCOMBE, age 28, of Covington, Louisiana, was sentenced yesterday in federal court by U. S. District Judge Jay C. Zainey to six (6) months imprisonment for theft of mail, announced U. S Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Zainey imposed three (3) years of supervised release during which time, the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks an additional term of imprisonment should he violate any terms of his supervised release.

According to court documents, HOLCOMBE, a highway contract route driver, was an employee of Pelican Mail Transport, a company contracted by the U.S. Postal Service to transport mail matter. HOLCOMBE stole a mail parcel from his highway contract truck.

The case was investigated by the United States Postal Service - Office of Inspector General, and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Loan “Mimi” Nguyen.
