PONCHATOULA MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO DEFRAUDING AMERICAN RED CROSS

GLENN R. NICHOLAS, age 54, a resident of Hahnville, Louisiana, was charged yesterday in a one-count bill of information with trafficking in counterfeit goods, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to the bill, in approximately July, 2010, NICHOLAS intentionally trafficking in counterfeit professional sports jerseys and Ed Hardy merchandise. If convicted, NICHOLAS faces a maximum term of imprisonment of ten years (10) years, and a $2,000,000 fine, three (3) years supervised release.

U. S. Attorney Letten reiterated that a bill of information is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

The case was investigated by agents of the U. S. Department of Homeland Security and is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Irene González.
