EDGARDO ANTONIO PENA-OLIVA, age 47, a citizen of Honduras, was sentenced today in federal court by U. S. District Judge Stanwood R. Duval, Jr. to approximately five months imprisonment, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Duval ordered that PENA be placed on two years of supervised release following the term of imprisonment, during which time the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks an additional term of imprisonment should he violate any terms of his supervised release.

According to court documents, on October 13, 2010, PENA pled guilty to making a false statement in March 2008 in his application for Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC). PENA also pled guilty to falsely representing that a Social Security number had been assigned for the purpose of obtaining the TWIC card.

The case was investigated by U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Fugitive Operations Task Force. The case was prosecuted by Special Assistant U. S. Attorney Robert Weir.
