FLORIDA MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO RECEIVING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
LUKE SOBIECHOWSKI, age 22, of Tallahassee, Florida, pled guilty today in federal court before U. S. District Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon to a felony involving the sexual exploitation of children, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to the court documents, on October 29, 2009, after receiving information that SOBIECHOWSKI had searched for, downloaded, and viewed images depicting the victimization of children via computer software from the Internet, federal agents located SOBIECHOWSKI at his former residence in New Orleans, Louisiana. SOBIECHOWSKI was found to be in possession of computers that contained images depicting the sexual victimization of minor children. SOBIECHOWSKI admitted to downloading the images by using “peer-to-peer” computer software, into which he input specific search terms to search for electronic images. SOBIECHOWSKI further admitted that he would subsequently download and save the images to his personal computer.
SOBIECHOWSKI faces a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of five (5) years in prison and a possible maximum sentence of twenty (20) years, followed by up to a life term of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. He can also be required to register as a sex offender. Sentencing in this matter is scheduled for May 19, 2011 at 2:00 P.M.
