MEXICAN NATIONAL SENTENCED FOR FEDERAL GUN VIOLATION
ALEJANDRO SOLORZANO, age 36, a citizen of Mexico, was sentenced today in federal court by U. S. District Judge Sarah S. Vance to twelve (12) months and one (1) day imprisonment for a federal gun violation, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Vance ordered that SOLORZANO be placed on two (2) years of supervised release following the term of imprisonment, during which time the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks an additional term of imprisonment should he violate any terms of his supervised release.
According to court documents, on December 6, 2010, SOLORZANO pled guilty to one count of a superseding bill of information admitting that on July 16, 2010, he was in possession of a Winchester Model 1300, 12 gauge shotgun. SOLORZANO further admitted that he was previously convicted on October 6, 2004 in Macomb County, Michigan for a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.
The investigation was conducted by U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement - Fugitive Operations Task Force and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The case was prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Robert Weir.
