LAFOURCHE PARISH RESIDENT SENTENCED TO 30 MONTHS IMPRISONMENT FOR DISTRIBUTING CRACK COCAINE
WENDELL SHELBY age 35, a resident of Laplace, Louisiana, was sentenced today in federal court by U. S. District Carl Barbier to thirty (30) months imprisonment for distribution of crack cocaine, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Barbier ordered that SHELBY be placed on three (3) years of supervised release following the term of imprisonment, during which time the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks an additional term of imprisonment should he violated any terms of his supervised release.
According to the factual basis, on January 13, 2011, SHELBY pled guilty and admitted that he sold crack cocaine to a confidential source working with the DEA on three separate occasions during the fall of 2009.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Spiro Latsis.
