June 2, 2011

DENNIS GAMADIEL RUBI-ORTIZ, age 21, a resident of Honduras, was sentenced today in federal court by U. S. District Judge Carl J. Barbier to approximately four (4) months imprisonment, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Barbier ordered that RUBI be placed on two (2) years of supervised release following the term of imprisonment, during which time the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks an additional term of imprisonment should he violate any terms of his supervised release.

According to court documents, on March 24, 2011, RUBI pled guilty to falsely representing that a Social Security number had been assigned to him by the Commissioner of Social Security with intent to deceive, for the purpose of gaining access to the United States Naval Air Station, Joint Reserve Base at Belle Chase, Louisiana. RUBI is an illegal alien.

The case was investigated by the U. S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the U. S. Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). The case was prosecuted by Special Assistant U. S. Attorney Robert Weir.
