NEW ORLEANS MAN SENTENCED TO OVER 9 YEARS FOR FEDERAL GUN VIOLATION
GLENN P. LEVY, age 21, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, was sentenced in federal court today by United States District Court Judge Lance M. Africk to 115 months of incarceration for being a felon in possession of a firearm, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to incarceration, LEVY was also sentenced to three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment, during which time the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks additional imprisonment if he violates the terms of the supervision.
According to court documents, on or about June 6, 2010, LEVY was in possession of Smith & Wesson .40 caliber pistol, which he used to shoot his mother’s boyfriend in both legs. LEVY was previously convicted on or about April 18, 2007 in the 24th Judicial District Court for the Parish of Jefferson, State of Louisiana, for two counts of possession with intent to distribute heroin and one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine. As such, LEVY was prohibited from possessing a firearm.
The case was investigated by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives and was prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Edward J. Rivera.
