TRACY TARDIFF, age 28, a resident of Slidell, Louisiana, pled guilty in federal court today before U. S. District Judge Stanwood R. Duval, Jr., to assaulting a postal letter carrier, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to court documents, a postal letter carrier was delivering mail when he observed TARDIFF attempting to physically harm a female. When the letter carrier tried to help the female, TARDIFF punched the postal letter carrier in the neck and then ran off.

TARDIFF faces a maximum term of imprisonment of eight (8) years, a fine of $250,000.00 and three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment. Sentencing is set for November 30, 2011.

The case was investigated by United States Postal Inspection Service and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Loan “Mimi” Nguyen.
