FEDERAL COURT ORDERS FORFEITURE OF OVER $3 MILLION BY ST. PIERRE
Today, in United States District Court in New Orleans, U. S. District Judge Eldon Fallon entered a personal money judgment against convicted local businessman Mark St. Pierre in the total amount of $3,204,766.57. In issuing the Court’s Order, the judge found that this amount represents the amount forfeitable to the United States as illegal gains of the crimes of which St. Pierre was convicted. Additionally, this personal monetary judgment will be made part of whatever sentence is imposed by the Court against St. Pierre, which will take place on Thursday, September 1, 2011, at 2:00 pm, and will allow the Government to proceed with collection efforts against St. Pierre’s assets.
The United States Attorney notes that this sum has no bearing on the ultimate determination of what amount, if any, will be imposed by the Court at the time of sentencing in terms of restitution.
St. Pierre was convicted, following a three week trial in May, 2011.
The forfeiture matter was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Andre J. Lagarde of the United States Attorney’s Asset Forfeiture Unit.
