THIBODAUX MAN PLEADS GUILTY IN DRUG CASE
CHAUNCEY AYROW, age 33, a resident of Thibodaux, Louisiana pled guilty today before U. S. District Court Judge Ginger Berrigan for violations of the Federal Controlled Substances Act involving conspiracy and possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
AYROW pled guilty to conspiracy and possession with the intent to distribute a quantity of cocaine (435 grams). AYROW was stopped by Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s deputies traveling on Highway 90 on February 17, 2011. AYROW had placed four bags of cocaine in the glove box of the rental vehicle he was driving that were discovered by sheriff’s deputies.
AYROW faces up to 30 years of confinement, $2,000,000.00 fine, at least 6 years of supervised release and a $200.00 special assessment.
Judge Berrigan scheduled a sentencing date of January 4, 2012 at 9:00 a.m.
The case was investigated by Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney W. Scott Laragy.
