HAMMOND MAN SENTENCED IN DRUG CASE

JAVON C. PEA, age 31, a resident of Hammond, Louisiana was sentenced yesterday by U. S. District Court Judge Kurt Engelhardt for violations of the Federal Controlled Substances Act involving the possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

PEA previously pled guilty to possession with the intent to distribute a quantity of crack cocaine (46 grams) on June 15, 2011.

Judge Engelhardt sentenced PEA to 5 years (60 months) confinement in the Federal Bureau of Prisons followed by five (5) years of supervised release after completion of his sentence.

The case was investigated by Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney W. Scott Laragy.
