MARRERO WOMAN PLEADS GUILTY FOR MAKING FALSE STATEMENT TO FEMA
VINH NGUYEN, age 27, a resident of Gretna, Louisiana, pleaded guilty yesterday in federal court before U. S. District Judge Helen G. Berrigan to being in a conspiracy to traffic ecstacy, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
NGUYEN pleaded to a one-count violation of the Federal Controlled Substances Act. The count carries a maximum statutory penalty of twenty (20) years imprisonment. Sentencing is scheduled for January 18, 2012.
According to court documents, agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration executed a search warrant on NGUYEN’s residence in Gretna, Louisiana, on September 22, 2010. During the search, agents discovered more than 5,000 pills that tested positive for ecstacy and BZP. Agents also discovered cash, and other evidence consistent with dealing drugs.
This case was investigated by Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration along with members of the Terrebonne Narcotics Task Force. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kevin G. Boitmann.
