
ILLEGAL ALIEN PLEADS GUILTY TO MAKING FALSE STATEMENTS ON A PASSPORT APPLICATION AND ILLEGAL USE OF A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER
SEBANIA ICAL-ICAL, age 26, a citizen of Guatemala, pled guilty in federal court today before U. S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon to a two-count indictment charging him with for making a false statement in a passport application and for misuse of a social security number, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to court documents, on or about October 17, 2011, ICAL made false statements on a passport application, claiming that his name was Luis Miguel Lopez Rivera and that he was born in Puerto Rico. Also according to court documents, ICAL falsely represented that a social security number was assigned to him in order to obtain a U.S. passport, when in fact the social security number had not been assigned to him.
ICAL faces on Count 1, a maximum term of imprisonment of ten (10) years and on Count 2 a maximum term of imprisonment of five (5) years. As to both counts, ICAL faces a maximum fine of $250,000 and three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment. Sentencing has been scheduled for March 1, 2012 at 2:00 P.M.
The case was investigated by U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations. The case is being prosecuted by Special Assistant U. S. Attorney Joe La Rocca.
