JOSE ROBERTO DE LEON SENTENCED FOR TO ILLEGAL RE-ENTRY
JOSE ROBERTO DE LEON, age 29, a citizen of Mexico, was sentenced in federal court today by U. S. District Judge Stanwood R. Duval, Jr. to serve forty-six (46) months imprisonment, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to the sentence of imprisonment, Judge Duval ordered that DE LEON be placed on three years of supervised release following his term of imprisonment. During this period of supervised release, the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks an additional term of imprisonment should he violate any terms of supervised release.
According to court documents, on December 14, 2011, DE LEON pled guilty to one count of an indictment admitting that he was an alien who had previously been removed from the United States, was knowingly and unlawfully found in the United States in Orleans Parish, Louisiana without the Attorney General or the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security having expressly consented to his re-application for admission into the United States.
The case was investigated by U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations. The case was prosecuted by Special Assistant U. S. Attorney Robert Weir.
