ISAAC MEDRANO, age 46, a resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, pleaded guilty today before U. S. District Court Judge Helen G. Berrigan, announced U. S. Attorney Dana J. Boente. MEDRANO pleaded guilty to an indictment for transmitting a threatening communication in interstate commerce.

Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested MEDRANO in Texas on January 5, 2012, on a federal criminal complaint filed in December 2011. The investigation revealed that MEDRANO called and sent texts to the Louisiana victim, K.B. and made serious threats of physical harm while using vile and obscene language. The telephonic and textual threats persisted between September 1, 2011 and December 11, 2011.

MEDRANO faces a maximum term of five (5) years imprisonment, maximum fines of $250,000, and three (3) years of supervised release following imprisonment. MEDRANO’s sentencing is scheduled for June 27, 2012. MEDRANO was remanded to jail, pending sentencing.

The case was investigated by agents for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tony Gordon Sanders.
