SOUTHBRIDGE MAN ARRAIGNED ON CHARGES OF POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE CRACK COCAINE AND POSSESSION OF A FIREARM
BOSTON, Mass. - A Southbridge man was arraigned today in federal court with Possession with the Intent to Distribute Cocaine Base and Possession of a Firearm.
JUNIOR ALEXANDER LOPEZ, age 30, of Southbridge was charged in a indictment with two counts of possession with the intent to distribute cocaine base and and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The indictment alleges that on November 20, 2010, was found to be in possession of over 69 grams of crack cocaine and a Ruger, 357 Magnum revolver.
If convicted on these charges, LOPEZ faces up to life imprisonment, to be followed by five years of supervised release and a $2,000,000 fine.
United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz, Steven W. Derr, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration - Boston Field Divsion and Chief Daniel R. Charette of the Southbridge Police Department made the announcement today. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Cory Flashner of Ortiz’s Worcester Branch Office.
The details contained in the indictment are allegations. The defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
